      Abstract
      Purpose – This poem aims to present a reflection on the bigger picture of greed and how “hope” is often all the powerless have to hold on to that a better time will come.

      Design/methodology/approach – A fictional poem.

      Findings – The poet considers the ugliness of our world and how often “hope” is all humanity has that this ugliness can be transformed into something better.

      Originality/value – A unique attempt to look at the horrors of this world throughout
