A crystal structure determination on the 2-p-tolylpyridine derivative is reported, confirming the presence of a chelating thiosalicylate ligand, with the tolyl and thiolate groups mutually cis, together with a highly puckered gold–thiosalicylate moiety, and a twisted carboxylate group.
