Purification of a Thermostable DNA Polymerase from a Thermotoga Species
Abstract
Most of the initial studies on the fundamental cellular process of biosynthesis and repair of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) have been carried out on the bacterium
Escherichia coli.¹When a single-stranded DNA template is provided with a primer, the 5’ - 3’ polymerase copies the template in the presence of deoxyribonucleotide triphosphates and a divalent cation, for example, Mg²⁺.
